Dr Flores here-
It has been a while since we last posted, reason being, I recently had my baby girl! I had my daughter in August. This is my first child so I am going through the experience of being a new mom, for the first time.
As a physical therapist who has worked primarily with infants and mothers, I now have the perspective that many moms have told me I would not really have unless I had a child of my own. Not that I was not able to connect with what they were going through, but the experience itself is so much more than one can ever imagine. I had no idea how out of my element I would be. I had figured, “I got this! I am a pediatric physical therapist for goodness sake. How hard can it be?” Boy was I humbled!
I am inspired to share my story of being a new mommy, a physical therapist, and a business owner at the age of 41.
My intention for sharing is to provide insight, hope, support and inspiration to the mothers that are going through their own daily and personal challenges and changes. I will share my challenges, things that I have tried that worked and didn’t work, suggestions for best mommy health and best preventative health for baby.
There is power and healing in sharing. I feel for every new mother out there and hope they realize: as difficult as a new and unfamiliar moment may be, each step you take will move you through it and past it. So keep moving forward!
